A.B. Lucas Secondary School
2024-2025 Safe and Inclusive School Plan
Our school is committed to providing all students with a safe, caring, and inclusive learning environment free from bullying and harassment that promotes respect, acceptance, and empathy.
Staff, students, parents and caregivers, and community partners will work together as a team to help make our school safe and welcoming for everyone.
The Safe and Inclusive School Plan highlights some of the key actions that our school community will put in place as part of our bullying prevention and intervention efforts.
Key Priorities and Goals
This year we are focusing on belonging and building relationships within our school community, among staff, students and guardians.
We are doing this to deepen connections in our learning community through the foundations of essential conditions for learning and relationships first.
Key Actions or Strategies
- Facilitating learning on equity, inclusion and well-being.
- Engaging with student leaders to strengthen student to staff and peer to peer relationships.
- Affirming identities of all members of our learning community through conversations, inclusive curriculum, intentional lessons and efforts to strengthen our school unity.
Community and Home Connections
- Ask your child about opportunities available in the school, clubs to join, a caring adult in the building who they value/with whom they can seek support, and community building events such as Relay for Life.
- Try deepening conversation with your student to understand their interests and their needs, to facilitate and model relationship building skills so that they may be successful in developing relationships with peers and other Lucas staff and community members. at home with your child.
